Wilmington Police have charged a 35-year-old man in connection with a burglary of a business along the Union Street corridor.
Officials said on March 5 at approximately 9:31 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of North Union Street in reference to a burglary alarm that had been activated. Arriving officers found a rear window on the building open and an air conditioning unit hanging out of the window. Police searched the building, but the suspect was no longer present.
An investigation determined that approximately $600 was stolen from the business, according to police. Surveillance footage captured 35-year-old Julio Flores breaking into and burglarizing the business, police said. Patrol officers, who were familiar with Flores from previous offenses, secured warrants in reference to the March 5 offenses, and the investigation continued.
With the assistance of the community, on March 8 the Street Crimes Unit responded to the 1600 block of West 5th Street, where Flores was reportedly staying in a vacant property. As officers approached the residence, Flores exited and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
Flores has been charged with the following:
Burglary (Third Degree)
Theft Under $1,500
Criminal Mischief
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
Resisting Arrest
Criminal Trespass (Second Degree)
Flores was arraigned on all of the abovementioned charges and was released on $10,700 unsecured bail.
