Troopers: Man Shoots At Girlfriend’s Vehicle, Released On Unsecured Bond

Magnolia- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Clayton, DE man after he fired two shots, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on July 14, 2019, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when Troopers responded to South Draper Circle, Magnolia, for a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with a female resident who advised that several subjects arrived in a vehicle at her residence and a verbal argument ensued. Through further investigations, it was determined that the female resident’s boyfriend 23-year-old Andrew J. Wharff was present during this incident, added Jaffe.

As he attempted to leave, Wharff grabbed a firearm and fired two shots in the direction of the girlfriend’s vehicle, one of which struck his own vehicle, according to Jaffe.

There were no reports of any injuries as a result of this incident. Troopers located the firearm inside of the residence.

Wharff was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following:

Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Reckless Endanger First Degree

Wharff was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $21,000.00 unsecured bond.
