Rehoboth Beach Police have arrested a restaurant bartender for falsifying business records, according to authorities.
Officials said Michael J. Maricle, 48 of Lewes, was arrested on Monday, October 14th for multiple counts of falsifying business records at his place of employment on North First Street in Rehoboth Beach.
Just before 4:00 p.m., officers were called to Maricle’s place of employment after a customer had returned to the business to investigate a discrepancy between their receipt and the actual amount charged to their bank card.
The manager was able to locate forty-one transactions handled by Maricle between August 28th, 2019 and October 7th, 2019 in which the receipts had been altered, police said.
During the investigation, Maricle admitted to officers to altering receipts, according to police. He was charged with forty-one counts of falsifying business records, which are misdemeanors. He was released on $8,200.00 unsecured bond.
