Officials: Police Make Arrest In Hunters Run Home Invasion

Last Saturday (Nov 2), officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Bridal Way, in the community of Hunters Run Trailer Park, for a burglary in progress.

When the officers arrived, they learned that the subject had fled the area. The officers were able to interview the victim. The victim reported that an unknown black male was knocking on his window and his front door. He then stated the subject had a flashlight and walked around the residence checking the windows. Then he heard the rear door being smashed. The victim confronted the subject and a fight ensued, according to police. During the fight, the subject was able to break free and flee the residence.

Officials said Detectives from the New Castle County Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on the scene and assumed the investigation.

After an extensive investigation, the detectives were able to list 18-year-old, David L. Hancock from the City of Wilmington as the suspect.

Arrest warrants were signed and yesterday (Nov 5), Hancock was taken into custody at the New Castle County Courthouse.

He was transported back to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with one count of felony Burglary 1st, one count of felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, one count of felony Aggravated Menacing, and misdemeanor Assault 3rd.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $59,000 secured bail.
