Troopers: Woman Killed Early Tuesday By Hit-And-Run Driver

Newark- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early this morning, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the crash occurred on August 11, 2020, at approximately 1:06 a.m., when an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound Ogletown Stanton Road (Rt. 4), East of Churchmans Road. A pedestrian for unknown reasons, was in the right travel lane of eastbound Ogletown Stanton Road, and was wearing dark non-reflective clothing and did not appear to be carrying an illumination device, said Hatchell. The victim came to a final rest in the right travel lane of Ogletown Stanton Road. The unknown vehicle did not stop for the collision.

The victim, identified as a 27-year-old female from New Castle was pronounced deceased at Christiana Hospital. Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
