The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that Sunday afternoon’s fire that heavily damaged a Milford home was intentionally started, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.
Chionchio said the blaze, reported shortly after 2:00 pm, occurred in the 500 block of Seabury Avenue near South Walnut Street. The Carlisle Fire Company arrived on the scene with smoke pouring out of the house. Firefighters searched the residence and found nobody inside.
Deputy fire marshals were called to the scene and determined that the fire was deliberately started inside the home, said Chionchio. Investigators have launched a criminal investigation to solve this arson, added Chionchio. Fire damage was estimated at $150,000. There were no reported injuries.
