Police Identify Man Fatally Stabbed In Wilmington, Arrest Made

A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of a man in connection with the fatal stabbing incident that occurred earlier this week.

Police said at approximately 1:42 a.m. on August 10, police were dispatched to the 200 block of West 19th Street. There, they located a 37-year-old male stabbing victim, who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Newark resident Daryl Carter.

Officers at the scene located and detained 63-year-old Wyman Thompson. The case was assigned to Detective Joseph Wicks of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wicks identified Thompson as a suspect in the incident, and arrest warrants were obtained, officials said Thursday.

Thompson has been charged with the following offenses:
Murder (First Degree)
Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $163,000 cash-only bail.
