Police Investigate Shootings In Smyrna, Townsend Sunday

Police are investigating two shootings that occurred on Sunday.

Smyrna Police said their detectives are conducting an investigation into a shooting that occurred at approximately 1:05 in the morning. Officers were alerted to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the unit block of Howard Street. Responding officers located a 30-year-old female victim with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper extremity.

Witnesses at the scene were uncooperative, according to top police. It is believed that the victim was shot during a struggle over a firearm with an unknown suspect. The victim was treated and released from Bayhealth Dover.

Just before 11:00 Sunday evening rescue crews and police responded to the 100 block of Hagerty Place in the Meadow Vista community in Townsend for reports of a shooting. Police have not released details surrounding this incident.
