Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred at approximately 1:56 Sunday morning in the 1500 block of West 3rd Street.
Police said they located 20-year-old Marquis Lopez Jr. suffering from gunshot wounds. Lopez was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
This shooting death brings the total number of Wilmington shooting deaths to 30 for 2021. In 2020 the number of people shot to death in Wilmington was 30.
