Wilmington Police Charge Man With Weapons Charges

Earlier this month Wilmington Police arrested a man on gun charges, officials said Monday.

Police said on April 8 at approximately 12:28 a.m., members of the Street Crimes Unit were in the 100 block of East 24th Street when they made contact with 35-year-old James McDougal. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and took McDougal into custody without incident, according to police.

McDougal was charged with the following offenses:
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 counts)
Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $24,000 cash-only bail.
