16 Transported After Monday Moring Crash Involving A School Bus

Earlier this morning (May 9th) at 8:15 a.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the intersection of Commons Boulevard and Reads Way for the report of a multiple-vehicle crash involving a school bus.

Officials said when the officers arrived the initial investigation revealed that a white Chevy Colorado pick-up was traveling northbound on Commons Blvd as it crested a hill it then struck a black Ford Expedition that was stopped at an intersection. The impact caused the Expedition to drive into a school bus from Academia Antonia Alonso. The school bus was in the next lane and stopped at a red light.

Fourteen students from the school bus, ages 5-10, were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the bus and the driver of the Expedition were also transported to local area hospitals also with minor injuries.

The 35-year-old driver of the Colorado was cited for Inattentive Driving.
