Police: Armed Carjackers Lead Cops On Two Pursuits, One In Custody

The Dover Police Department arrested one suspect and is seeking a second in connection with a carjacking that occurred on Thursday morning, according to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said at approximately 12:34 a.m., the two suspects entered a vehicle that was left running in the parking lot. The female victim observed this and ran outside to approach them. At that time the driver pointed a handgun at her and the vehicle fled said Hoffman.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed by Smyrna Police Department, but the pursuit was discontinued due to safety concerns. At 3:37 a.m. the vehicle was once again spotted by Smyrna Police who pursued the vehicle into Dover. The vehicle stopped in the area of South Governors Avenue and Bank Lane and both suspects fled on foot. Officers were able to arrest Dakota Borntreger (20), who was also in possession of two handguns said Hoffman. The second suspect is still at large and is described as a black male wearing dark clothing.

Borntreger was committed to SCI on a $46,000 cash bond on the following offenses:
-Robbery 1st Degree
-Possession of Untraceable Firearm (2x)
-Possession of Firearm by Person Prohibited
-Wearing a Disguise
