Firefighters from across Northern New Castle County responded to 3200 block of Champions Drive at 11:45 a.m. in the Fairway Falls community for reports of a residential structure fire.
Arriving crews reported fire showing from the building and began their attack.
Minutes after arriving on scene crews reported that the second floor had collapsed. Just after the collapse a Mayday was declared for fighters trapped in the basement.
All firefighters have been removed from the basement by rescue workers.
No word on injuries at this time.
