Wednesday House Fire Ruled Accidental

File

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this afternoon’s house fire in New Castle was accidental.

At approximately 1:30 PM this afternoon The Wilmington Manor Fire Company was alerted to a house fire in the unit block of Aidone Drive, in the Buena Vista Park Townhouse Community. Upon arrival the Fire Department found smoke and fire coming from the roof of an end unit townhouse. The fire spread to an adjoining townhouse. A 2nd and 3rd alarm was struck and multiple Fire Companies responded to assist with extinguishment.

State Fire Marshal Deputies were called to the scene and determined the fire originated on the exterior of the residence in the rear and was caused by an electrical/mechanical malfunction in the main house air conditioner.

No one was injured in the fire and damage is estimated at 100,000 dollars.
