Police: Man Seriously Injured By Hit-And-Run Driver In Newark

On July 16, 2024, the Newark Police Department was notified about a seriously injured 67-year-old male that had been located by New Castle County Police. The initial investigation led investigators to believe that the individual had possibly been struck by a motor vehicle.

Members of the Newark Police Department Patrol Division and Traffic Response Unit located evidence that the individual had been struck by a motor vehicle in the area of northbound South College Avenue, in the area of Plymouth Drive on July 16, 2024, at approximately 5:25 AM. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene and did not contact emergency services.

The injured individual was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for serious injuries. The vehicle believed to be involved is described as a dark colored, smaller SUV, possibly with damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The investigation is being conducted by members of the Newark Police Department Traffic Response Unit. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Master Corporal W. Aston at (302) 366-7100
