County Police Wait Days To Warn Public Of Carjacking Attempt

New Castle County Police have released a statement several days after a group attempted to carjack a young woman.

Officials said on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 9:59 p.m., patrol officers with the New Castle County Division of Police responded to the 500 block of Ashton Lane in Ashton Condos for an attempted carjacking.

The 22-year-old victim reported that five males, described as black teens, attempted to force her out of her car and steal it but were scared off by a neighbor.

While en route, Patrol officers were also notified of suspects matching the description were seen trying to steal a Hyundai that was parked on Fairhaven Court and a Hyundai parked on Hamilton Court in Spencer Park Townhouses.

It’s not clear with officials did not warn the public sooner.
