Pedestrian Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver Dies Days Later

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred Friday night in Newark that left one man dead.

Officials said on October 11, 2024, at approximately 7:26 p.m., an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on East Chestnut Hill Road east of Marrows Road. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking southbound across the eastbound lanes of East Chestnut Hill Road. The investigation showed that the unknown vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene eastbound on East Chestnut Hill Road police said Monday.

The victim, a 37-year-old Newark man, was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries. On October 14, 2024, he died as a result of his injuries. His name is being withheld until his family has been notified.
