Woman Critically Injured In Crash Involving A Bicycle Tuesday

Delaware State Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist and a truck Tuesday morning. The incident, which occurred earlier today at the intersection of Gravel Hill Road and Hollis Road in Sussex County, left the cyclist in critical condition.

Emergency services, including Georgetown Fire Companies, Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware and State Police Aviation Unit Trooper 2, were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicate that the cyclist was transported to Beebe Hospital in Lewes by ambulance for immediate treatment. She was later transferred to Christiana Hospital in Newark due to the severity of her injuries by LifeNet.

Delaware State Police reported that Gravel Hill Road is currently closed from Hollis Road to Bennum Switch Road as they investigate the crash. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to prevent delays.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the crash or the identity of the individuals involved.
