Delaware State Police arrested 32-year-old Allen Davis of Seaford following a vehicle pursuit on June 11, 2025, that ended in a crash and resulted in multiple criminal charges.
At approximately 6:40 p.m., a trooper observed a black Buick LaCrosse being driven erratically on Sussex Highway near Norman-Eskridge Highway. When the trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the driver failed to comply and fled, making several illegal U-turns, running red lights, and driving on the wrong side of a turn lane. During the pursuit, the vehicle’s hood flew open, forcing the driver to navigate by sticking his head out the window.
Troopers determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. The driver continued to flee at excessive speeds, nearly causing several collisions before striking a stationary red Nissan Kicks at Sussex Highway and Concord Road. The 52-year-old driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After the crash, the suspect, identified as Allen Davis, resisted commands to exit the vehicle and fought against arrest. He was taken into custody with assistance from the Seaford Police Department. While being transported to Troop 5, Davis attempted to escape by kicking and damaging the interior of the police vehicle. He was subsequently transported by EMS to a hospital for evaluation and later discharged.
At Troop 5, troopers observed signs of impairment, and a legal blood draw was conducted as part of a DUI investigation. Further investigation revealed that Davis had stolen the Buick LaCrosse shortly before the pursuit. A 40-year-old man reported that Davis, an acquaintance, flagged him down on Front Street Extended. When the victim stopped to speak with him, Davis allegedly implied he had a firearm, seized control of the vehicle, and threatened to kill the man. As the victim attempted to flee, he became entangled in the seatbelt and was dragged before freeing himself and escaping to a nearby residence. He sustained minor injuries.
Davis was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle and felony disregarding a police officer’s signal. He also faces charges of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, offensive touching, terroristic threatening, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, and attempt to escape in the third degree. In addition, he was charged with driving under the influence of a drug and multiple traffic-related offenses.
Davis was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $4,512 secured bond.
