Suspect In Delaware City Homicide Investigation Captured

Delaware City, Del. — A homicide investigation is underway following a fatal shooting Monday morning in the Delaware City Trailer Park.

At approximately 9:27 a.m. on July 7, 2025, Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police responded to a report of gunfire in the 100 block of Fifth Street. Upon arrival, officers located a 39-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency medical efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased.

Through investigative efforts, police identified 22-year-old Shane Brank as a person of interest. Witnesses reported observing Brank fleeing the scene police said. Due to safety concerns and the nature of the investigation, the Division’s Crisis Management Group was activated to assist with the search.

During the investigation, authorities issued a reverse 911 notification to Delaware City residents, providing information about the shooting and a description of the suspect. Law enforcement established a command post in the parking lot of Kathy’s Crab House as operations continued throughout the area.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., Shane Brank was located and taken into custody without incident. Police have not disclosed the exact location of his apprehension.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released information regarding possible charges or a motive.
