A Wilmington man has been arrested in connection with a February shooting that left one person injured.
On February 24, 2025, at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers from the Wilmington Police Department responded to the area of Vandever Avenue and Locust Street for a reported shooting. A 33-year-old male was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Murphy of the Criminal Investigations Division. Following an investigation, 32-year-old Tourae Mills was identified as a suspect police said. Warrants were subsequently obtained for his arrest.
On the evening of July 29, at approximately 7:14 p.m., police officers on patrol observed Mills operating a vehicle. When they attempted a traffic stop, Mills fled. He was ultimately apprehended in the unit block of Vandever Avenue without further incident. A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered during the arrest.
Mills has been charged with first-degree assault, five counts of first-degree reckless endangering, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, criminal mischief over $5,000, and disregarding a police officer’s signal. He also faces multiple traffic-related offenses.
Following his arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11, Mills was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $174,407 cash-only bail.
