Police: Pedestrian Injured In Hit-And-Run Accident Dies

Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate what they described as a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred earlier this month near Felton.

Officials said on August 1, 2025, at approximately 9:19 p.m., troopers responded to Sandtown Road, just east of John Hurd Road, after a Ford Transit van struck a pedestrian walking in the westbound lane. The driver did not stop and continued traveling west on Sandtown Road according to police.

The pedestrian was identified as 24-year-old Evan Young of Centreville, Maryland. He was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical treatment, Young died on August 16, 2025.

Officials said as part of the investigation, troopers located the Ford Transit on August 2, 2025, and identified the driver as a 42-year-old man from Ellendale, Delaware. Authorities have not released his name, and the case remains under active investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Delaware State Police Troop 3.
