Officials Update Crash That Closed Porter Road Tuesday Morning

Bear, DE – Emergency crews responded Tuesday morning to a serious two-vehicle collision in the area of 1923 Porter Road. The crash occurred at approximately 7:19 a.m. and involved a four-door sedan and a crossover-type vehicle.

Upon arrival, personnel from the Christiana Fire Company found one driver trapped inside the sedan. Firefighters worked for about ten minutes to free the 24-year-old woman from the wreckage. She was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics for head, neck, and possible internal injuries before being airlifted to Christiana Hospital in serious condition by Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 helicopter.

The driver of the crossover sustained neck and back injuries and was transported to Christiana Hospital in stable condition by a Christiana Fire Company ambulance.

Delaware State Police are investigating the cause of the collision. Responding agencies included the New Castle County Paramedics, Christiana Fire Company, and Delaware State Police Aviation.
