Battle of the Bars Hits Newark On Friday

Newark – The Main Street Mile announces its fourth annual Main Street Mile Guest Bartender Fundraiser, “Battle of the Bars”, on Friday, August 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the patio at the Courtyard Marriott at the University of Delaware located at 400 David Hollowell Drive in Newark. The event brings together prominent community leaders and supporters of the Newark Police Department K-9 fund and the Downtown Newark Partnership.
This year’s event pits eight downtown Newark restaurants against each other in the battle for bragging rights and the “Paco Cup”, named in memory of Newark’s first K-9 officer. Bartenders from Catherine Rooney’s, The Deer Park Tavern, Grotto, Stone Balloon, Grain, Klondike Kate’s, Green Turtle, and Taverna will compete to generate the most tips and drink sales. Last years winner, Taverna, will seek to again defend its title! All tips and donations support the Newark Police Department K-9 fund and the Downtown Newark Partnership. The live entertainment for the evening is world class musical talent DJ Bis.
But that is not all. We have added a CELEBRITY DUNK TANK for additional fun. 7 Local politicians and candidates and one K-9 officer will brave the dunk tank to raise additional funds for the Newark Police K-9. Here is your DUNK TANK LINE UP.
