Man Robbed At I – 95 Welcome Center

Newark Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery which occurred last night at the Delaware Welcome Center in Newark.

Police said that the initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred on Monday, August 1, 2016 at approximately 8:26 p.m., as a male victim was sitting in his vehicle which was parked in front of the Sunoco located at the Delaware Welcome Center, 530 John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway (I-95), Newark. The victim was then approached by a male suspect who displayed a knife and demanded cash from the victim. The suspect then reached into the victim’s vehicle and removed an undisclosed amount of money from inside. He then entered a grey unknown make and model vehicle and was last seen fleeing in a northbound direction on I-95. The victim suffered a minor injury and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The suspect was described as a white male. He was 28-32 years of age, 5’08”-5’09” tall, and weighed 150-170 lbs. There is no clothing description available for the suspect. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
