Wilmington – On Wednesday, September 28, at 5:40 a.m., New Castle County Police officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Squirrel Hill Court, in the community of Duncan Woods, in reference to a burglary that had just occurred, according to New Castle County Police JP Piser.
Phiser said that when officers arrived, along with Officer Bob Williams and his K-9 Partner Loki, they made contact with the victim who was home and had interrupted the burglary.
The victim advised officers that he confronted the suspect and a physical confrontation ensued. The suspect then fled the residence. The victim, who reported minor injuries and declined emergency medical care, was able to provide police with information about the suspect, identified as Ryon Perry, according to Phiser.
Phiser said Officer Williams and K-9 Loki conducted a track which led from Squirrel Hill Court to the front of Ryon Perry’s residence in the unit block of Claire Place in Dunlinden Acres – approximately a half-mile. Officers said that when they knocked on the door they were met by Ryon Perry, who was positively identified as the suspect and was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives assisted with the investigation and were able to link Ryon Perry to two other burglaries at the same residence which occurred on August 10 and September 20 of this year, Phiser said.
Ryon Perry was charged with attempted first-degree robbery, home invasion, two counts of second-degree burglary, three counts of felony theft, offensive touching, and three counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $296,800.00 cash-only bail. He was issued a no contact order with the victim and the victim’s residence.
