Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating an attempted strong arm robbery which occurred at the Canby Shopping Center, according to Public Information Sergeant Richard D. Bratz.
Bratz said the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at approximately 7:00 a.m., as a 62 year old female walked behind the Canby Park Shopping Center, located at 1914 Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, towards the Walgreens.
As she turned around a small green four door sedan stopped next to her. A suspect exited the front passenger side of the vehicle and grabbed her and pushed her to the ground, said Bratz. The suspect removed her jacket and rummaged through the pockets before throwing the jacket towards the dumpsters, according to authorities.
Bratz said the suspect started to search her as the victim was kicking and yelling for the suspect to stop.
A second suspect was sitting in the driver’s seat and remained in the vehicle, according to the sergeant . The first suspect jumped back into the vehicle and both suspects fled towards Walgreens. The victim was not injured.
The first suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, approximately 5’9″-6’0″ tall, thin build, short light brown hair, wearing a white t-shirt. The (driver) second suspect was only described as a black male in his 20’s wearing shorts.
