New Castle – New Castle County Police are asking for the public’s help with identifying a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that injured a 12-year-old boy in the community of Overview Gardens, according to police spokesman J.P. Piser.
Monday evening at about 5:40p.m., County Police were called to the unit block of Memorial Drive for a hit-and-run crash with a person injured. Upon arrival, officers located the 12-year-old victim who was transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
Traffic Services Unit (TSU) Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Through the investigation, detectives learned that the boy was struck by a dark colored sedan as he attempted to cross Memorial Drive. The vehicle fled towards RT-13.
The victim suffered numerous broken bones and remains hospitalized in stable condition, said Piser
TSU Detectives continued the investigation and believe the suspect vehicle to be a 2004-2010 dark colored (blue or black) Chrysler 300 with the driver side mirror missing. The passenger side mirror should have yellow-tinted glass with a chrome back. The side mirror could potentially have the words “Auto Dim” printed on the glass.
