Corrections Officers Held Hostage In Smyrna

Smyrna – All of Delaware’s prisons have been place on lockdown following a reported hostage taking at the state’s maximum security facility in Smyrna, according to DOC spokesman.

A spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections said that an emergency situation was reported at the Smyrna prison late Wednesday morning and that the The facility was placed on lockdowk along with all other prisons in the state per department policy.

The head of the Correctional Officers Association of Delaware, Geoffrey Klopp, said he was told by the head of the Department of Correction that multiple prison guards were taken hostage at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna.
