Man In Critical After Early Morning Shooting In Wilmington

Wilmington – Earlier this morning, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at approximately 5:48 a.m. Wilmington Police Officers responded to the 900 block of E. 17th Street in reference to a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire, according to Wilmington Police.

wilmington-shootingOfficials said that as officers were responding into the area, they were directed to a 22-yea-old male victim in the 900 block of Vandever Avenue. The victim was found to be suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his right leg and upper torso areas, according to authorities.

The victim was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room in critical condition.

Assisting officers were able to locate a shooting scene in the 900 block of E. 17th Street.

The circumstances surrounding this shooting incident are being actively investigated at this hour.
