Man Robbed In Claymont Wawa Parking Lot

Claymont- Delaware State Police are currently investigating the strong arm robbery of a 64 year old man which occurred in the parking lot of a Claymont area Wawa early Thursday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale

robbery-stock-newHale said the initial investigation has determined that the incident occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017, as a 64 year old male victim was walking to his car which was parked in the lot of the Wawa located at 697 Naamans Road, Claymont.

It was at this time that a male suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed him by the arm, said Hale. The suspect then demanded the victim’s wallet while implying that he was armed with a gun, according to Hale.

Hail said the victim then turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then entered a tan unknown make and model vehicle, which then fled from the lot in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male 30-35 years of age.
