New York City, Milford Police Team Up To Arrest Ellendale Woman For Identity Theft

 

Milford – On February 9. 2017 Milford Police Detectives were notified by a Detective from the New City Police Department, 47th Precinct, who advised they were investigating the improper use of a victim’s Social Security number and their investigation determined the person using the number was employed in Milford, Delaware, according to Milford Police Spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said that police determined that Ruth D. Mendez-Sazo, 45 of Ellendale, was the individual reportedly using the Social Security number for employment purposes at the Milford business.

As a result of these findings a warrant was obtained for Ms. Mendez-Sazo, who was taken into custody at her place of employment on South Washington Street without incident on February 10. 2017, according to Masten.

Ms. Mendez-Sazo has been charged with Identity Theft and Forgery 2nd Degree. Ms. Mendez-Sazo was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7, where bail was set at $3000.00 unsecured. Ms. Mendez-Sazo is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a Preliminary Hearing on February 17. 2017.
