Wilmington – On Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at approximately 10:38 p.m. Wilmington Police Officers responded to the area of Conrad and N. DuPont Street in reference to a Shot Spotter notification of gunfire, according to Wilmington Police.
Officials said that arriving officers located a shooting scene in the 1700 block of Conrad Street, however no victim. Minutes later police were notified that a 37 year old male victim had arrived at the St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room via personal vehicle, according to authorities.
Officials said that the victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, said authorities. The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was approached by two unknown, black males, one armed with a handgun who demanded the victims property and then shot the victim, said police.
Just 20 minutes later police responded to 2400 Block of N. Monroe Street at approximately 10:58 p.m. in reference to a shooting investigation, said police. Arriving police officers located a 29 year old male victim in the block suffering from a gunshot wound to his right ankle.
The suspects in the first incident fled on foot in an unknown direction. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information relative to this incident is asked to call Detective Joran Merced at 302-576-3637.
The victim in the second incident was treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital in stable condition.
