Newark Gas Station Robbed At Gunpoint

Newark –  Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area gas station that occurred early Thursday morning, according to  Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey Hale.

Hale the initial investigation has determined that the incident happened at approximately 6:52 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017, as a male suspect entered the Shell gas station located at 1148 Christiana Road, Newark.

The suspect approached the sales counter where he then displayed a handgun and confronted a male employee demanding money, according to Hale. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him.

The suspect then exited the store and fled on foot in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a black male 30 years of age. He was 5’09” tall, weighed approximately 185 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black baseball cap, and sneakers.
