Two Shot In Wilmington Just Blocks Away From Each Other #63, #64

Wilmington – On Saturday April 22, 2017 at approximately 9:02 p.m.  Wilmington Police patrol units responded to the area of 23rd and West Streets in reference to a Shot Spotter notification, according to police.

Officials said that while in the area officers were alerted to a shooting victim in the 2400 block of West Street.  Officers located a 19-year-old black male suffering a gunshot wound to the arm.  That victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital for treatment.  A shooting scene was later located in the area of 23rd and West Streets.

A second shooting happened just five blocks away from the original shooting at approximately 11:49 p.m. Authorities said while Wilmington Police patrol units on proactive patrol they heard numerous gunshots in the area of 27th and Market Streets.

Officers responded to that location and found a 21-year-old black male in a residence in the unit block of W. 27th Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip.  The victim was treated at the scene and transported to the Christiana Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition.  That shooting scene was discovered in the unit block of W. 27th Street.

This is the same area where last weeks officer evolved shooting and police chase began.

Its unclear if the two incidents are connected but police ask anyone with information to contact the Wilmington Police Department Criminal Investigative Division at 302-576-3620.
