Two UD Students Report Electronics Stolen From Residence, Suspect Sought

Newark – Newark Police Department is investigating a residential burglary that occurred on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at approximately 1:31 a.m. in the unit block of Academy Street, according to Newark Police Spokesman Fred Nelson.

Nelson said officers spoke with two 21-year-old male University of Delaware students who reported that an unknown person entered their residence, possibly through an unlocked door, and removed a number of electronic items.

One of the victims reported a gaming system and game, valued at approximately $295.00, stolen and the other reported a laptop, valued at approximately $1700.00, stolen, said Nelson.

Nelson said officers reviewed surveillance camera footage from the area and observed what is believed to be the suspect entering the residence at 1:31 a.m.. The suspect is then observed leaving the residence at approximately 1:34 a.m. with property in his hands.
