Breaking: Dover Motel Shooting Suspect Identified, Held On $1,180,000.00 Cash Bond

Dover – Darren Weiford (21), has been charged with the murder of Amber Buckler, a 20-year-old woman from the Dover area, according to Dover Police Spokesman Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said officers responded to the First State Inn after being called to the motel at 11:28 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Buckler was found deceased in a motel room from a single gunshot wound to the upper body, said Hoffman.

Weiford was arrested at the scene without incident and was committed to JTVCC in default of $1,180,000.00 Cash Bond for 1st Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony.

A post on Amber Buckler’s Facebook page stated that she has been engaged to Weiford since May 31.

Dover – The Dover Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a woman on Thursday morning, according to Dover Police Spokesman Mark Hoffman.

Hoffman said the incident occurred at the First State Inn Motel located at 1760 N. DuPont Highway in Dover. Police were called to the scene at 11:28 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017.

Detectives have a suspect in custody and believe this to be an isolated incident that is possibly domestic related, according to Hoffman.

The names of the victim and suspect are being withheld pending the notification of the victim’s family.
