Crash Scene Stumps Local Residents, One Sent To Hospital

Newark – Just before 5:30 p.m. this afternoon, Sunday June 4, 2017 rescue crews from Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Company responded to an injury crash at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Road and N. Kingston Road.

Arriving crews found two vehicles with heavy front end damage and one injured driver. Witnesses at the scene indicated that firefighters and ambulance crews removed a woman from her green Toyota and transported her to Christina Hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Local residents gathered near the crash wondered how the Toyota sustained rear end damage without a third car being involved. Many speculated that a third car may have fled the scene. Crash debris was strewn about the roadway for several yards prior to where the crash impact took place which may add credence to this scenario.  One resident, who lives near the scene, said she heard someone yelling “you have to stop, you have to stop”.

Delaware State Police arrived on scene and assumed control of the investigation. All but one west bound lane was closed while crews cleared the scene.
