Late Night Motorcycle Ride Doesn’t End Well

Wilmington – Just after 10:45 p.m. last night, Saturday June 3, 2017 police and rescue units responded to the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Boxwood Avenue, near the Conrad Schools of Science, for an accident involving a van and a motorcycle.

Responding units found two motorcycle riders laying in the roadway with serious injuries and a van that had crashed head on into a utility poll.  Reports from the scene indicate that at least one of the patients on the motorcycle suffered serious head injuries.

The motorcycle struck the van on the passenger side near the rear but it was unclear what caused the accident. Pieces of the motorcycle were strewn about the intersection.

Its not known how many people were transported to the hospital or the nature of their injuries.

New Castle County Police continue to investigate the case and will release more information as it becomes available.
