State Police Need Your Help Locating Robbery Suspect

Update: Delaware State Police have arrested a Wilmington man who was wanted in connection with the robbery of a Smyrna Wawa which occurred on Wednesday.

Keandre Summers turned himself in at Troop 9, Odessa, Friday, June 2nd. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution in default of $6000.00 secured bail.

Smyrna- Delaware State Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a Wilmington man in connection with the robbery of a Smyrna area convenience store which occurred on Wednesday, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Jeffrey Hale.

Hale said the initial investigation began on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at approximately 11:22 a.m. as a male suspect entered the Wawa located at 5632 S. DuPont Parkway, Smyrna. After approaching the sales counter, he confronted a female employee and demanded money from the cash register, said Hale.

The suspect did not display a weapon or imply that he was armed. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to him, according to Hale. The suspect then exited the store and entered into the driver’s seat of a light-colored four door Mercury sedan which then exited the parking lot and fled in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured.

After further investigation, troopers were able to identify Keandre S. Summers, 44, of Wilmington, as the suspect who had committed the robbery and have obtained warrants charging him with Robbery 2nd Degree and Theft, according to Hale.

Keandre Summers is described as being 5’11” tall and weighs approximately 165 lbs. He has a bald head and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and black pants.
