Man Shot In The Hand, No Crime Scene Located

Wilmington – On July 12, 2017 at approximately 3:22 am, Uniform Services Division officer’s were notified of a shooting victim who had arrived at the Wilmington Hospital Emergency Room via private vehicle, according to Wilmington Police. The victim, identified as a 20-year-old male was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left hand and is listed in good condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the shooting incident occurred in the area of the 300 block of E. 26th Street when an unknown male suspect approached the victim from behind and fired a handgun at him, striking his left hand, said police.

The victim then fled the area on foot and was provided a ride to the hospital. No ShotSpotter Notification was received for this area and no crime scene could be located. The circumstances surrounding this shooting incident remain under investigation. Anyone with information relative to this investigation are asked to call Detective Jordan Merced at 302-576-3637.
