Police Identify Man That Shot At Officer Last Night

New Castle County Police continue to investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred in the community of Westover Hills, according to police.

Officials said that yesterday (July27) at 6:45 p.m., County Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Westover Rd for a Robbery which had just occurred. Police learned that the victim was outside of her home when the suspect, 23-year-old Jonathan Dryburgh took her purse, threatened her with a firearm and fled on foot.

County Police officers responded to the scene and began searching the area for the suspect. The officer observed Jonathan Dryburgh, matching the suspect’s description in the 2400 block of MacDonough Rd and attempted to stop him. Gunfire was exchanged between the officer and Jonathan Dryburgh, according to police. A foot pursuit then ensued and additional gun fire was exchanged during that foot pursuit. Jonathan Dryburgh was taken into custody by the officer in the area of Greenhill Ave and West 7th Street. Neither officer nor suspect were struck by gunfire. Jonathan Dryburgh was treated at an area hospital for a broken ankle as a result of running from the officer. Police located a firearm in the area where Jonathan Dryburgh was taken into custody.

During the course of the investigation, police learned that two additional suspects were involved with the robbery. They were identified to be a 16-year-old female and 19-year-old Kevin Pullella.

The officer involved, an 11-year veteran of the Division of Police assigned to the K-9 Unit. Per departmental policy, the officer was placed on paid administrative leave while investigations are conducted. We are

Jonathan Dryburgh was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, second-degree conspiracy, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a previous felony conviction.

Kevin Pullella was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy.

The 16-year-old female was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy.

The defendants are all pending arraignment at this time.
