Police: Shots Fired Call Leads To Major Drug Bust In Bear


Bear – New Castle County Police (NCCPD) have arrested Laura Stanley, 64, Tyrone Gardner, 18, and Jamir Waters, 21, following a shots-fired call in the community of Wrangle Hill Estates, according to NCCPD Spokesman Sgt. JP Piser.

Piser said on Friday (8/11/17) at about 2:00 a.m., County Police Patrol D-Squad officers were dispatched to a house in the 100 block of Carlotta Dr for a shots-fired call in the area of that residence. As police approached the house, they observed a male looking out the window and then move away from the window, said Piser. Police also located evidence of shots-fired in the rear of the residence, added Piser.

Police made contact with the resident, Laura Stanley, who indicated that she was home alone, according to Piser. Officers entered to check the residence for the male they saw through the window. Police located Tyrone Gardner and Jamir Waters as well as three other juveniles within the residence, said Piser.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence and upon a search located a firearm, ammunition, 966 bags of heroin, 7 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and approximately $800.00 in suspected drug proceeds, said Piser.

Through the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for Laura Stanley, Tyrone Gardner and Jamir Waters for firearm and drug related charges. The juveniles were turned over to their appropriate parents/guardians.

Laura Stanley was charged with maintaining a drug property, possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin in a Tier-5 quantity, possession of crack cocaine in a Tier-1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and discharging a firearm near a dwelling. She was arraigned and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post $87,200 cash only bail. She was also issued a no contact order with the co-defendants and all juveniles.

Tyrone Gardner was charged with possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin in a Tier-5 quantity, possession of crack cocaine in a Tier-1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and discharging a firearm near a dwelling. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institute after failing to post $85,500 cash only bail. He was also issued a no contact order with the co-defendants and all juveniles.

Jamir Waters was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited from firearm possession, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin in a Tier-5 quantity, possession of crack cocaine in a Tier-1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and discharging a firearm near a dwelling. He was arraigned and committed to Young Correctional Institute after failing to post $90,500 cash only bail. He was also issued a no contact order with the co-defendants and all juveniles.

No one was found to be injured during the incident.
