State Police Warn Residents To Stay Inside, Lock Doors

Stanton – Earlier this afternoon Delaware State Police issued a press release warning residents of the Kiamensi Gardens neighborhood to stay on their homes and keep windows and doors locked due to an on going investigation in the area.

Reports from the scene indicate that one person was taken into custody and a car may have been stolen involving a gun. It’s unclear at this time if the two are linked.

Delaware State and New Castle County police remain on scene investigating.

Early reports indicate that the SWAT team may have been called to the scene however they are no longer at the 100 block of Stanton Road.

Just before 3:00 State Police release a statement sounding the all clear.

The Delaware State Police have declared the situation at the home located on Stanton Road under control. Although a police presence will remain, area residents are free to leave their homes and commuters may again used the affected roadways.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing. Further details will be released at a later time.

Just before 6:00 am yesterday a Delaware State Police helicopter was assisting multiple Troopers with a ground search in the same area, according to radio reports. It’s unclear if that incident is related to today’s incident.
