Troopers Investigating Two Drive-By Shootings In The Delaware Countryside

File

Lincoln – Delaware State Police is currently investigating two separate incidents of shots fired in a rural area near Lincoln, Delaware over the weekend.

The first incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Friday August 4, 2017, in the 900 block of Hidden Branch Lane, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.

Fournier indicated that Troopers responded to the scene and were contacted by the homeowner who advised that there were multiple gunshots fired at their house. Shell casings were located on the roadway and the victim’s vehicle also sustained damage from the bullets.

The second incident occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Sunday morning, as a 39-year-old Lincoln man was inside of his residence located in the 20000 block of Jefferson Road. It was then that the victim heard a car engine revving and responded outside to investigate, according to Master Corporal Jeffrey R. Hale.

Hale said the victim observed a red older model car, possibly a Volkswagen Jetta, at the bottom of his driveway. The operator of the car then fired numerous rounds from an unknown make and model handgun in the victim’s direction before fleeing northbound on Jefferson Road, according to Hale. The victim was not struck and was not injured.

Police have not said if they believe the two incidents are related.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
