Woman’s Purse Snatched By Thief Near Casho Mill And Elkton Road

Newark – The Newark Police Department (NPD)  is investigating a purse snatching that occurred on Wednesday, 8/30/17 at approximately 1:20 p.m. in the parking lot of the Produce Marketing Association, 1500 Casho Mill Road, according to NPD Spokesman Fred Nelson

Nelson said the victim, a 27-year-old female employee, reported that she parked her vehicle in the parking lot and began walking towards the building when she was approached from behind by the suspect. The suspect proceeded to grab the victim’s purse strap off of her shoulder and fled the parking lot with the victim’s purse.

The suspect ran towards Elkton Road and was last seen running into a nearby wooded area. Officers, including a K-9 officer and his partner, checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, late 20’s to early 30’s, approximately 5’10’’ tall, 150 – 170 lbs.
