Multiple People Injured In Crash, Trapped, Child Transported

Newark – This afternoon, at approximately 4:20 pm, New Castle County Paramedics were requested to assist multiple fire department units on scene from the Christiana Fire Company and Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder in the 400 block of Walther Road, for a serious motor vehicle crash that involved multiple patients, according to Paramedic Senior Corporal David J. McKinney, Jr.

McKinney said the crash involved two vehicles and entrapment. Following extrication, five patients were transported utilizing various ambulances from Christiana Fire Company and Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder. A 70-year-old male was evaluated back pain and a leg injury. A 66-year-old female was evaluated for abdominal and leg injuries. A 32-year-old female was evaluated for leg pain. A 20-year-old female was evaluated for back, hip, neck and abdominal pain. Finally, a 1 year old child was evaluated following the crash. All patients were transported to the Emergency Department at Christiana Hospital with New Castle County Paramedics accompanying.

The New Castle County Police were on scene and are investigating the crash.
