Man Shot In The Back This Morning Just Yards Away From Last Night’s Homicide


Wilmington – Wilmington Police are currently investigating a shooting, which occurred about just before 6:00 this morning, in the 1700 block of Thatcher Street.

Preliminary reports state that at approximately 5:57 am, a man indicated that he was walking to the gas station when he was struck in his back by gunfire.


Last night a man was shot in the face and killed a block away from this incident.

Update: 8:35am Police have identified the victim as Keanan Samuels, 20-years-old, of WILMINGTON.

Wilmington – Wilmington Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of Vandever and N. Locust Streets, according to authorities.

Officials said that at approximately 7:46 pm, a “SHOT SPOTTER” notification was received for several rounds of gunfire.

Upon the officers arrival, they located a male victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his face/neck area.

Officers began life saving measures, which was turned over to New Castle County paramedics. The male victim was transported to Christiana Hospital via ambulance, however, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel, according to police.

The male victim did not have any identification on him. Investigators are currently attempting to identify the man.
