Car Slides Off The Roadway Into The Trees In Newark, Traps Occupants

Newark – Just after 9:00 this morning rescue crews from Atena Hose, Hook and Ladder, along with Newark Police, Delaware State Police and New Castle County Paramedics responded to Otts Chapel Road, between Oklahoma State Drive and Elkton Road, for reports of a car in the ditch with entrapment.

Upon arrival, crews found a small passenger car off the roadway into the trees. Upon inspection, crews reported that no one was seriously injured, but the occupants could not remove themselves from the car. To gain access to the occupants, firefighters, along with the assistance of several Newark Police Officers, removed trees from around the car, using a chainsaw.

Once the obstructions were removed, authorities helped the driver and passengers up the embankment. All occupants refused medical treatment at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Otts Chapel NB is restricted to one lane as crews work to remove the vehicle.
