Driver Trapped After UPS Truck Overturns In Newark

File – Overturned Truck I-95 NB and Route 896 

Newark – Last night at approximately 7:15 rescue crews from Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder, along with crews from the Christiana Fire Company, Elkton’s Singerly Fire Company, New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police responded to I-95 NB and Route 896 for reports of a vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer that had overturned, trapping the driver.

Upon arrival Newark Command alerted responding units that the patient was trapped. Arriving crews worked for approximately 10 minutes to extricate the patient. At approximately 7:30 the patient was pulled from the truck. It’s believed that the patient was transported to Christiana Hospital with undetermined injuries.

Witnesses at the scene reported that two other vehicles were pinned against the guard rail. It’s unclear if anyone in those vehicles were injured.
